In Kemberg a very special festival will be celebrated this weekend that attracts not only visitors from the region, but also lovers of the Middle Ages. The 21st edition of the medieval market offers a journey into a past period, which is characterized by a diverse program and a historical atmosphere.
a festival for all senses
The program begins on Saturday, July 27th, at 1:30 p.m. with an opening ceremony, followed by a space concert by the Wittenberg fanfare train. The organizers, the "Kemberger Life Serher" Association, have prepared a variety of attractions for visitors, including over 20 stands with medieval dishes and drinks. Guests have the opportunity to try freshly baked bread, hearty meat from the spit, stews and sweet pastries and to refresh themselves with MET - a traditional honey wine.
Attractive activities for all age groups
The focus is not only on physical well-being: At different stands, participants can demonstrate their skill in sports such as archery and ax throwing. A special attraction will be the "hop flower swallow duel", which offers visitors the opportunity to challenge their drinking resistance. In addition, the traditional duel "Kemberg is looking for the nail master" will offer many attractions. There are numerous entertainment options for younger visitors, including a bouncy castle, face painting and the popular stick and swords.
musical accompaniment and dance outdoors
The event is musically framed by several groups that occur with historical instruments. A special highlight are the "raven brothers", which, with their unique mix of folk, medieval and world music, create a good atmosphere. You will invite the guests to dance and celebrate. Another highlight will be the concert of the Irish folk band "Dead Mans Hand" on Saturday evening, which loosens up the atmosphere and encourages visitors to dance.
a Sunday full of traditions
Sunday, July 28th, starts with a service in the open air at 9 a.m. and then offers the opportunity for morning pint with bacon cake. Uwe Woll, the chairman of the association, expresses great hopes for a good visit to visitor and a pleasant weather.
The festival in Kemberg not only shows the joy of celebrating, but also the appreciation for traditions and community. Such events promote cultural exchange and strengthen the sense of community in the region. It is to be hoped that the crowning glory of the weekend will be remembered by most visitors.
