Chaos and destruction: Sturm and thunderstorms move over Aachen city region
storm is the city region - more than 150 missions for fire brigade and police
On Tuesday evening, a violent storm caused chaos in the Aachen city region. Sturm, heavy rain and thunderstorms moved across the region and lived a trace of devastation. The Aachen police pursued the path of the storm cell from the Genz crossing head over Monschauer Straße to Eschweiler, where numerous damage was reported.
The Aachen fire brigade was challenged as rarely before and recorded over 150 missions in the city and the surrounding area. Aachen city center, Stolberg and Eschweiler were particularly affected, where trees plunged on streets and cars, paralyzed traffic and put people in danger.
trees as the main cause of the operations
Most of the fire brigade missions were due to fallen trees that caused traffic disabilities and dangerous situations. The firefighters had to clear numerous trees of streets and sidewalks to restore security for the population. Fortunately, water -related operations were rarely necessary because the focus was on the storm -related damage.
affected communities fight with the consequences
in Eschweiler, the fire brigade was in constant use from the early evening to counteract the damage caused by fallen trees and broken branches. In Röthgen, Talstraße, and on Moltkestrasse, tree blocks were not uncommon, which significantly impaired traffic. In Stolberg, too, fallen trees had to be removed after a man was seriously injured when a tree fell on him when he was traveling by bike.
The municipalities of Breinig, Mausbach, Büsbach, Atsch, Velau and Donnerberg were also affected by the storm damage that had to be removed by the local fire brigades. Eschweiler Marktplatz also showed clear traces of the storm that did not know any mercy.
other circles spared, but still affected
The districts of Heinsberg and Düren were largely spared from the storm, but some fallen trees in Aldenhoven and Jülich were also reported here. Fortunately, there were no accidents or injuries in these regions, but the clean -up work was nevertheless carried out by the local authorities.
The storm left significant damage and required a significant use of the fire brigades and police in the city region. The quick reaction of the emergency services and the solidarity of the affected communities showed that in crisis situations that stick together and professional action are decisive.
