Modern birth accompaniment: midwives at the University Hospital Halle

Halle (Saale) - In the University Hospital Halle, expectant parents are now offered a comprehensive and modern birth accompaniment that goes far beyond the traditional offers. In a recent announcement, those responsible said that pregnant women have the opportunity to have their birth accompanied by experienced midwives. These midwives have a close bond with the families they look after, and not only accompany them during birth, but already during pregnancy and in the puerperium.

The collaboration between the university clinic and the midwives has more than 15 years of tradition. This long -term cooperation enables the midwives to carry out their births exclusively in the university medicine delivery room. Ines Hoffmann, a freelance midwife, emphasizes the advantages of this special kind of birth support: "If the women give birth to their child, I have known them for many months. This close connection can be very advantageous for the course of birth."

Exclusive document birth for election

Prof. Dr. Stephanie Wallwiener, the head of the University Clinic for Obstetrics and Prenatal Medicine, emphasizes that such a possibility of document birth is only offered in a few German university clinics. "Our approach is unique in Central Germany," says Wallwiener. "The great advantage is that in principle every pregnant woman can take advantage of a document."

The concept of document birth is particularly important today, since it makes it possible for the expectant parents to provide individual and personal support during a formative phase of life. Nicole Rostalski, the nursing area management, adds that it is important to the team of the university clinic to offer families a wide range of supportive services. The close cooperation between midwives and specialist staff from obstetrics ensures that the parents are not left alone during the complex experience of the birth.

The work of the midwives is rounded off by the daily support of the team in the delivery room. "You come to the delivery room here and are among colleagues who support me and stand by my side. Without them, I couldn't work at all," explains Hoffmann and describes the feeling of cooperation and team spirit, which is crucial for a successful and relaxed birth.

The introduction of the document in the University Hospital Halle represents a step in the right direction in order to better meet the needs of expectant parents. By personalizing the care, the families receive an experience that is characterized both emotionally and practically deeply and positively. In an environment that offers security and trust, fathers and mothers can experience the arrival of their child in a supportive setting.

This not only means an improvement in obstetrics, but also shows growing awareness of the importance of emotional support during pregnancy and birth. It remains to be seen how this model will develop and whether other clinics may also react to the need for individual care.
