Pankow honors Oleksandra Bienert with district medal 2024

Oleksandra Bienert was awarded the district medal 2024 of the district office and the district council of Pankow for their outstanding services as part of the city partnership between Pankow and the West Ukrainian city of Riwne. The award took place on September 13, 2024 at the annual reception of the district office, in which Astrid Landero Alvarado held the laudation.

born in 1983 in Tscherniwzi, a city with a multicultural background, Oleksandra Bienert came to Berlin in 2005. Since then she has been actively committed to various social and political issues, especially for Ukraine. When it came to war with Russia in 2014, she was increasingly committed to humanitarian aid and has continuously supported people in need.

The district medal also recognizes its commitment to the city partnership with Riwne. Through their initiative and support, many children from Riwne have already spent their vacation in Pankow, which goes back to the generous support of many pankowers. The partnership between the two cities was built on the idea of Oleksandra Bienert and is actively developed.

The district medal, an artistically designed bronze, was presented with Oleksandra Bienert as part of a solemn ceremony. In addition to the medal, she received a certificate and a band bridge in the Berlin state colors. In her acceptance speech, she emphasized the importance of the partnership between Pankow and Riwne in view of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
