Mirror and light: Art installation transforms toilet into universe of possibilities

On Friday, September 6, 2024, at 6 p.m. the studio opened the doors to a new world of art at the Kunstbrücke on the Wildenbruch. Ulli Gabler and Dieter Ströbel presented a fascinating exhibition entitled "Reflect Yourself - of perspectives and variations". The two artists expanded the historical toilet facility on the Wildenbruchbrücke into a visual-imaginative space that takes visitors into a unstable parallel world.

a game with mirrors and light

The exhibition presents delicate structures from congruent mirror fragments that act like bizarre foreign body and kidnap the viewers into a world of fiction. For their art, Gablers and Ströbel have been limited to a reduced selection of materials that could also be found in other places. The use of mirrors and light tubes creates a confusing game between the presence and absence that invites the viewers to look at themselves as in a kaleidoscope

The artist couple can be guided by found and works in a spatial and intuitive manner. Your works are created on site, in accordance with the atmosphere of the room and the relationship between art and building. The exhibition "Reflect Yourself" shows the result of a change and new coding of the place, which invites visitors to explore higher, universal beauty.

a place of poetry

Ulli Gabler and Dieter Ströbel are happy to play dilated or neglected places that bring their own history and poetry. With your work at the Kunstbrücke on the Wildenbruch, you not only bring the historical toilet facility to shine, but also invite visitors to explore the diverse manifestations of light.

The exhibition can be seen from September 7th to November 3, 2024. The finissage with the artists will take place on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 4 p.m. For inquiries and images you can contact diana.nowak@bezirkamt-neukoelln.de or Clara.vonschwerin@bezirkamt-neukoelln.de.
