Start Diversity Days: Inaugurated symbolic bank against discrimination!
The diversity days at the FernUniversität Hagen are in full swing and they started with a significant action at the round table. On May 19, 2025, Rector Prof. Dr. Stefan Stürmer invaded a new bank on the Red Square, which is now known as "space against discrimination". Among others, Anna Stenz from the Aller World House and Jana Sänger from the AWO who supported the event were present
The bank that has a shortened seat is intended to invite you to actively position yourself against discrimination. Fernuni students have the opportunity to be photographed with personal statements against discrimination in order to set a strong sign of solidarity. This campaign is in the context of a survey by the equality of opportunities, the results of which were presented by striker. Accordingly, a significant part of the students experiences discrimination based on their migration history or gender.
diversity and equality of opportunities
The detailed results of the survey will be presented at the Diversity Day on May 27th. In order to promote the exchange within the university, Stürmer announced the introduction of "Diversity Talks". Barbara Bröker, the provisional Chancellor of the FernUniversität, rewarded the importance of this initiative, which includes various promotions and offers by May 27th.
The project "Bank against racism: No place for exclusion/racism" will live as part of the federal program "Democracy!" Funded. In Hagen, the project is implemented by the integration agency of the AWO, the municipal integration center of the city and the all -world house. This is in accordance with the holistic diversity strategy of the Federal Government, the diversity in the federal administration and in companies with federal participation.
This strategy based on the coalition agreement of the 20th legislative period is aimed at a cultural change in the administration. Migrant self -organizations are of great importance. Discrimination prevention and intervention as well as equality of opportunities represent central components of the strategy. The Federal Government recognizes that over 25 % of the population in Germany have an immigration history, which underlines the need to promote diversity.
actions to promote diversity
activities and training that promote understanding of diversity and discrimination are essential for the achievement of goals. The measures include in particular programs for discriminatory personnel recruitment and development as well as internships that are intended to address underrepresented groups. The Federal Academy for Public Administration also offers training courses to promote diversity.
The start of the diversity days and the initiatives that start in this context are part of a larger concept for creating an appreciative and non -discriminatory culture in education and beyond. The FernUniversität Hagen takes on a pioneering role with its initiatives to raise awareness of these topics.
