Escape from the police: suspect leave old clothes chaos!

In the night of May 7, 2025, a dangerous attempt to escape in Gelsenkirchen caused excitement. Police officers were called to the festival path in Ückendorf around 11:30 p.m. after several people noticed suspicious activities on a old clothing container. When checking a Fiat that was used by these people, the driver tried to escape through daring maneuvers. Despite the police lock, he raced through a residential area at a significantly excessive speed and damaged a patrol car.

The driver, an 18-year-old Romanian without a permanent residence, could be caught on a nearby field a short time later. He did not have a valid driving license and was temporarily arrested. In the escape vehicle, the officials found old clothes that may come from thefts. Together with two 24-year-old women from Essen, who also sat in the car and were taken to determine identity, the trio is now facing criminal investigations.
