A dangerous situation in road traffic caused excitement in Ingelheim on Friday, September 6, 2024. Around 2:30 p.m., the police received clues about a striking blue VW small car, which drove through the districts of Groß-Winterheim and Schwabenheim an der Selz with a rapid driving style. The driver of this car was particularly ruthless by tracking other road users closely on the track in dense traffic and thus endangering them.

In the course of this risky driving style, there was an almost catastrophic incident: During an overtaking maneuver on the L428 between Groß-Winterheim and Schwabenheim an der Selz, the little VW raced so close to an oncoming vehicle that a frontal collision could only be avoided by quickly reacting the other driver. Such irresponsible actions not only put the driver in danger, but also all other road users on the street.

Opportunities for security increase

Not only dangerous driving was a reason to worry. In Schwabenheim an der Selz, a passerby also became a target when a bottle was thrown out of the blue small car in its direction. Fortunately, there is no information that this was violated by the throw, but this clearly shows how rash and ruthless the driver acted. Such an act could easily lead to serious injuries or worse consequences.

The alarmed police officers immediately searched for the driver and were able to find an 18-year-old man from Mainz in connection with the incident at short notice. The investigation in this case is running, and the Ingelheim police urgently asks for support from the population. Anyone who saw the blue -painted VW small car in the period in question or possibly made further observations is asked to report.

In particular, the officials ask themselves whether there were other drivers who have been in trouble during the overtaking maneuver. The passerby who was hit by the bottle or was nearby should also report directly to the police. Information from the population could be crucial for determining the processes and dealing with such ruthless driving behavior.
