In Hamburg, an important traffic safety campaign will take place on September 7, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. This campaign by the Hamburg police is carried out on the "Deich classics" bike tour on Bredowstrasse in the Billbrook district. The initiative aims to educate cyclists about the specific dangers in road traffic, especially in a region that is extremely popular with racing cyclists due to their picturesque routes.

The four and marches offer an approximately 25 kilometer dike route, which often tempts to achieve higher speeds. However, these conditions can lead to a declining attention, which can have serious consequences. In recent years, the number of serious traffic accidents in this area has increased, in which cyclists have not only been injured more easily, but also suffered fatal injuries. Between 2019 and 2023, the police documented a total of 121 traffic accidents in this context, whereby 79 people were seriously injured and a person lost their lives.

This renewed security campaign is organized by the bicycle relay south and the traffic prevention of the Hamburg police, which will be supported by the participants on the bike tour. They are ready to point out the cyclists that can arise from driving too fast and little attention. They are supported by members of the Radsport Association Hamburg e.
