This late morning, around 10:45 a.m., a traffic accident occurred in Harsefeld-Griemhorst, which luckily ended with only two slightly injured vehicle occupants. The accident was caused by a collision of two cars, with the driver of an Opel Zafira, a 74-year-old man from Oldendorf, when turning from a dirt road to Kreisstraße 53, the approaching 20-year-old BMW driver from Wiegersen overlooked.

The young driver was in the direction of Griemhorst and had no way to slow down or avoid what led to the collision in good time. The Harsefeld fire brigade was alerted because it was initially suspected that a person could possibly be trapped in the vehicle. Fortunately, however, this turned out to be an unfounded assumption, and the rescue helicopter requested as a precaution could be canceled.

The fire brigade secured the scene of the accident and took care of the remedy of expiring operating materials. Fortunately, the two participants only suffered minor injuries. The Zafira driver was brought to Buxtehuder Elbeklinikum after a first medical care by the emergency services, while the BMW driver was treated outpatient on site.

The vehicles were badly damaged by the impact. The total damage of the accident is estimated at around 25,000 euros. In order to facilitate the rescue and salvage work as well as traffic recording, the K 53 was temporarily fully blocked. The fire brigade set up a local diversion, which, however, led to low traffic disruptions.

The police published photos of the accident in its digital press kit to further document the circumstances and point out the dangers in road traffic.
