around the outback bulls: a look at the community and the sport
The outback bulls, a clan based in Reken, have established themselves not only in competitive sports, but also in the community in recent years. This group joined the SC-Beken in 2024 and regularly trains in the Heubach Stadium in Maria Veen. The focus is currently on preparing for the Mainland Games in Flörsheim am Main, where you have the opportunity to win the title of German champions
competition and tradition: The disciplines of the Highland Games
The outback bulls are particularly careful to master various traditional disciplines of the Highland Games from Scotland. Weights are raised in the games, tree trunks are pulled and many other physical challenges mastered. These competitions require strength, perseverance, coordination and close teamwork in order to be successful. The best -known disciplines include the "Tossing the Caber", the tree trunk throwing, and the "Stone of Manhood", where a heavy stone ball is placed on a podium.
The clan and its members: growth and development
The Rekener Clan currently consists of 23 members who come from various regions such as Coesfeld, Borken and the Ruhr area. In 2019 they started with only five people, with Robin Bösing, the Clan Chief, played a crucial role in his foundation. They were successful among beginners and won several championship titles in the following years. Their success has led to the clan increasing and now training in the Heubach Stadium where there is enough space for the necessary training equipment.
Community and cohesion: The values of the clan
According to Robin Bösing, cohesion within the community is one of the most important properties of sport. The clan maintains a family atmosphere that goes beyond the competitions. The training takes place regularly on Wednesdays and outside of the competition season on Saturdays, and everyone is invited, regardless of fitness levels or experience. The minimum age for interested parties is 11 years and experienced clan members are ready to introduce newbies to sports.
Invitation to sports: everyone can participate
The offer of the outback bulls is aimed at everyone who is interested in the Highland Games. If someone wants to try out what makes this sport so special, he can contact Robin Bösing under the mobile number 015733960804. This open training session not only offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of Highland Games, but also to close new friendships and become part of a strong community.
