Baden-Württemberg is providing 2.2 million euros for fire departments in the district!

There is a lot of investment in security in Baden-Württemberg. For 2025, an incredible 84 million euros are available to support the country's fire departments. This record sum is intended to improve the deployment of the fire brigades and bring the equipment to a modern level. The funding aims to optimize vehicles, fire stations and general operational readiness. As the Swabian reported, 2.2 million euros flow into the local fire departments in the Alb-Donau district alone.

Interior Minister Thomas Strobl emphasizes that the funding is not only intended for new equipment, but is also intended to support the level of training of fire brigade members. Of the total 84 million euros made available, 72.3 million are earmarked for investments in vehicles and fire stations. In addition, the communities receive flat-rate support of 12.2 million euros for smaller purchases, training and other resources. These measures are part of the new administrative regulation on grants for the fire service, which has been in force since January 1, 2025 and brings with it a reduction in bureaucracy, such as State government announced.

Targeted funding in the Alb-Donau district

The investments in the Alb-Donau district include significant sums for a wide variety of projects and improvements. The largest subsidies are, for example:

Smaller purchases, such as digital radio devices, are also supported, ensuring more flexible support for the communities. The new administrative regulation allows municipalities to join forces and conduct joint tenders, resulting in lower prices and higher funding. For example, 69 fire engines are currently available for tender and the process should be completed by the end of the year.

Positive conclusion from the last few years

A look back at the last five years shows a consistently positive development. All eligible applications from the municipalities were approved, which means that a total of almost 300 million euros was made available to support the municipalities during this period. The use of the fire protection tax, which flows back directly into the fire service, has therefore proven to be effective. This increased investment in the fire department will not only strengthen the infrastructure, but also improve the safety of citizens in Baden-Württemberg.

In summary, it can be said that the state of Baden-Württemberg has shown a good hand in promoting the fire department and can therefore rely on modern and effective fire protection.
