Biberach Film Festival: Kinski receives honorary award – The Festival of Film!

On Sunday evening, October 29, 2025, the 47th Biberach Film Festival will culminate with a glittering awards ceremony. This year, eight prizes with a total value of 26,000 euros will be awarded. The Golden Beaver, the award for the best feature film, is chosen from the numerous competition entries submitted. It is already a tradition that five juries of experts select the best television films, short films, medium-length films, documentaries and debuts, while two additional juries of film amateurs award the student and audience beaver. This closeness between filmmakers and audiences is a hallmark of the festival and is expressed in parties and film talks.

Another highlight of the evening is the honorary award ceremony for the well-known actress Nastassja Kinski, who will be honored with the Silver Beaver for her services to German film. Throughout her career she has always proven that she is more than just a face in front of the camera.

Networking event and current film trends

Philipp Käßbohrer, film and television producer, takes the opportunity to discuss current developments in the film and television industry during a networking event. This attracts the attention of young filmmakers, who discuss the latest trends and challenges together with experienced industry representatives. Marcel Barsotti, director and producer of the AI-generated film “Imperia”, will also share his view on the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence in the film, which is generating great interest.

Douglas Wolfsperger, who has been artistic director of the Biberach Film Festival for two years, is impressed by the creativity and ingenuity of young filmmakers. After viewing hundreds of films, he is thrilled by the variety of innovative ideas that are presented.

Looking back at the festival history

The Biberach Film Festival, known as an audience festival since 1979, has grown from modest beginnings with just a few hundred spectators to an event that now expects five-digit visitor numbers. The ongoing work and commitment of everyone involved, from organizers to filmmakers, clearly shows that the connection between filmmakers and their audiences is a central goal of the festival.

At a time when the entertainment industry is facing major challenges, the festival in Biberach remains an important meeting point for cinema enthusiasts and professionals who want to feel the pulse of the film industry or discuss the latest developments. This is where passion and innovation combine in an incomparable way.
