Service Back to the Future”: Encounters and new paths in Böblingen
The “Back to the Future” service will take place on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. in the Free Evangelical Community of Böblingen. This event promises not only an enriching spiritual experience, but also an exciting examination of the topic of liberating encounters with God and the willingness to let go. The expert Prof. Dr. Christoph Schrodt, professor at the International University of Liebenzell, will give the sermon. Schrodt brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, having studied Protestant theology in Basel, Erlangen and Ewersbach. He is currently also a guest lecturer at the Academy for World Mission in Korntal and is working on his habilitation at the University of Leipzig. Krzbb.de reports that the moderation of the service will be taken over by journalist Petra Hahn, which creates an interesting dynamic.
The event will be accompanied musically by Michael Schulte and his music team. For all guests there is a foyer offering with a book buffet, as well as various drinks such as barista coffee, tea and cold drinks. There is also a special focus on families: while the service is taking place, age-appropriate programs are offered for the children. Parents with small children (0-3 years) have the opportunity to watch the service in the family room as a broadcast will be set up. Anyone who cannot be there can also watch the service via live stream YouTube consequences. Current information can be found on the website of the Free Evangelical Community of Böblingen, which is aimed at anyone interested.
A significant step into the future
A particular curiosity is that this service is in the context of a merger of the Evangelical parish of Böblingen, which will take place on January 1, 2025. This merger includes the Martin Luther Church, the City Church, the Christ Church and the Paul Gerhardt Church. This decision was made to join forces, preserve traditions and shape a common future. The from My Stuttgart The vision of the new parish, described in detail, is to be a lively place of faith, encounter and participation.
In this time of change, many parishes in Germany see the need to merge with neighboring parishes. A guide to this merger process has been developed to provide practical assistance to affected communities. This guide includes a concrete schedule as well as tips and experience reports provided by presbyters with merger experience. The Community churches development explains that changes of this kind require a joint effort from everyone involved and represent an exciting challenge.
Inviting everyone to take part in the services and events and to get involved is more than a call - it is an opportunity to actively shape the new community and to continue living the rich history of the Böblingen parish. These initiatives and opportunities are more than just events; they are a call to become part of a larger sense of community based on faith and cohesion.
