La Nefera impresses at the courtyard festival in Villingen!

The Inner Court Festival in Villingen-Schwenningen not only opened its doors on August 11, 2025, but also created a lively atmosphere that was unforgettable for visitors and artists alike. The talented artist La Nefera delivered an impressive show that captivated the audience with their energy and music. La Nefera, who was born in the Dominican Republic and has lived in Basel since she was ten, has made a name for herself beyond the Swiss borders. Her powerful lyrics, which are exclusively in Spanish, address several social issues without this being an obstacle for the audience.

Festival spokesman Richard “Richie” Hehn expressed concerns about the age structure of the audience, but this did not dampen the mood. La Nefera, who inspires with their unique mix of hip-hop, rap, electro beats and Latin American sounds, announced a “party block” after their first songs. Her piece “Ay amor”, in which she deals with a lost love, and her social commitment, especially with regard to the rights of FLINTA* people, were particularly outstanding.

Festival highlights and atmosphere

La Nefera's stage presence was energetic and her strong voice was well received by the audience. While the show lasted an hour and a half, the audience got carried away and demanded encores, which the artist and her band also gave. The summer atmosphere contributed to a special experience that left the audience thrilled.

In addition to La Nefera, the courtyard festival also offered other musical highlights. So the band performed Collectif Medz Bazar which filled the stage with a mixture of Armenian, Kurdish, Turkish and Arabic sounds. These creative artists have made it their mission to reinterpret and combine traditional musical styles.

Cultural diversity and social discourse

The festival was also characterized by works such as “C’est ça” (2023) and “Aprendí a vivir” (2024), which combine La Nefera's commitment to social issues with musical creativity. Their music is aimed at fans interested in political hip-hop, global beats and empowering messages and managed to bring relevant discourses about intolerance and human rights to the stage. La Nefera is a prime example of an artist who makes people sit up and take notice on both an artistic and social level.

The evening ended with the film “Köln 75”, which caused a lot of discussion and exchange in the community. This diverse collection of performances and cultural events underlines the importance of festivals like this, which not only provide entertainment, but also provide space for reflection and strengthening social cohesion. The Black Forest Messenger reports on the great response to the performances and the positive influence that such cultural events can have on the community.
