In Bräunlingen, preparations for the 57th Black Forest Marathon, which will take place on October 11th and 12th, 2025, are already in full swing. Loud Black Forest messenger Numerous athletes are currently registering, and the number of participants could exceed those of recent years. Many runners have already registered for the event, especially from North Rhine-Westphalia, especially from the Cologne and Düsseldorf regions. The organizers expect a number of participants of over 3,000, a pleasing increase after over 3,000 athletes took part in the marathon last year.

Interest in the Black Forest Marathon has grown significantly since the Corona pandemic and is reflected not only in the registrations for the long distances, but also in the number of new participants who want to take on the running adventure. Metal medals and championships

Good news for all medal collectors: In 2025, we will return to the traditional metal medals, which are produced in the Bruderhausdiakonie's competence and education center in Villingen. The experience with wooden plaques last year was not satisfactory and so the organizing committee, led by Frank Kliche, decided to mint 3,500 metal medals this time. These will be designed in the design of the 1971 issues, with the design of the first medal from 1968 being overhauled on fresh coin in 2028, on the 60th anniversary, as South Courier reported.

An additional highlight is the integration of the Baden-Württemberg half marathon championship into the event, which ensures the participants the best starting places in the front row. Even if the evening lecture on Saturday remains uncertain, no changes to the running program or route are expected for 2025.

Preparation and training

In order to optimally prepare for the challenge, training runs on the original route are planned for two Sundays in September. These start at the Bräunlingen town hall and offer athletes the opportunity to prepare mentally and physically for the marathon.

Marathons are becoming increasingly popular, and a total of 131 marathon races were held in Germany in 2023, which shows that running is very popular in this country. A survey showed that around 45 percent of Germans share their enthusiasm for running, and jogging is considered the most popular sport after cycling ( Statista ).

The anticipation for the Black Forest Marathon is palpable, and both organizers and participants are ready for an unforgettable event in the heart of the Black Forest.
