Child Protection Association Pforzheim: New leadership for a stable future!
The Pforzheim-Enzkreis Child Protection Association has elected a new board of directors, thereby sending a signal for a stable future. As the BNN reports, the election took place last Monday after a phase of internal conflicts put a strain on club life. With over 40 members present, the general meeting was well attended, even though the association has around 200 members in total.
The new team is led by the re-elected chairwoman Birgit Metzbaur, who has been in this position for five years. Your re-election not only represents continuity, but also the goal of steering the club in a positive direction. Her deputy Katharina Meyer and the newly appointed treasurer Dirk Böttcher bring a breath of fresh air to the management team. The assessors Christine Sternad, Sandra Cirillo and Kai-Uwe Freiberger have also joined the new team, with Sternad and Cirillo already bringing with them years of experience from previous board periods.
Challenges and successes
A central concern of the Child Protection Association is the fight against child poverty. In this context, the challenges posed by the corona pandemic become clear, which also presented the club with major tasks. Ursula Sickinger, the outgoing chairwoman, reported on the stresses that the 140 full-time and volunteer employees were faced with. Despite the closed facilities and playgrounds, they were able to reach over 1,000 families in Pforzheim and the Enz district. The consequences of the pandemic are far from over and the association will continue to work to ensure that affected children and families receive the support they urgently need, according to PZ News.
In this context, the AWO highlights better financial conditions as a crucial component in combating poverty while growing up. A common goal is to reorganize monetary family support, which should be child- and youth-friendly and poverty-proof. Families at risk of poverty should receive more targeted support through social benefits, while it is important that the tax burden is also adjusted to middle-class families.
Commitment and outlook
The new board will also offer the opportunity for interested members to find out about the board's tasks and take part in meetings. This promotes dialogue within the members, which is very much appreciated in the current positive mood of the association. The clients are also satisfied with the progress and the achievement of the club's goals.
Receiving the “Blue Elephant” seal of quality recognizes the work of the Child Protection Association. The new management, led by Birgit Metzbaur, aims to strengthen children's participation rights and thus be a voice for the youngest members of society. The path the association is taking also promises exciting developments for young people in the Pforzheim area in the future.
