AB Aichhalden: pivotal point in the fight for the league victory!

AB Aichhalden (ABA) faces an exciting challenge on October 31, 2025, as the team has two away games on the schedule. Coach Stefan Maier emphasizes the importance of well-thought-out tactics, as the fights are close together. On Friday at 8:30 p.m. we will first play against KG Wurmlingen/Tuttlingen, who are currently in second to last place in the table. At the start of the season, AB Aichhalden was able to prevail with a narrow 20:16 victory. Nevertheless, Maier remains cautious and warns against possible underestimation of the opponent.

The second fight against TSV Ehningen follows on Saturday, starting at 7:30 p.m. AB Aichhalden already had the upper hand in the first leg with 22:7 and took the win. But the guests from Ehningen have stabilized and have emerged victorious six times in the last seven encounters. This upward trend could give the team the motivation they need to make things difficult for Aichhalden.

The fighting spirit is required

The demands on the athletes are enormous, especially when it comes to tactical formations. “Here, every wrestler is required to give their best and prepare for their opponents,” explains Maier. Wrestling, which has its origins in the tradition of unarmed fighting, is particularly popular in modern sports. This outstanding craft, which was shaped by master wrestlers of the 15th to 16th centuries such as Ott Jud, also shows in today's competitions that technical finesse and tactics play a decisive role.

But the focus is not just on the first team. AB Aichhalden's second team also has its challenges, especially in the national league, where they are currently fighting to stay in the league. Here too, the next games are crucial: On Friday at 6:30 p.m. they will face SG Weilimdorf II away. With 4:12 points each in the table, a win is important for both teams. The game against ASV Nendingen, who is currently in second place, awaits on Saturday. In the first leg, Aichhalden II was narrowly defeated by 14:20.

Spectators welcome

The anticipation for the upcoming fights is enormous, and Maier appeals to the fans to come to the stadium in large numbers and support their team. “The team spirit and commitment on the mat are irreplaceable,” said the coach, who points to the great tradition of wrestling, which is also deeply rooted in Germany. Sporty grappling is viewed as a social form of wrestling in this country, but it is also a serious sport with fixed rules and techniques that must be carried out safely.

Wrestling is not only a sport, but also an art form that is characterized by long traditions and a rich historical heritage. In every competition, technology, ambition and passion for the sport come together - values that AB Aichhalden embodies and which will also be put to the test in the coming week.
