Fighting tiger mosquitoes in winter: How to protect your garden!
In the colder months, when winter sets in, people often don't think about insects. But the tiger mosquitoes, notorious for their biting attacks in summer, should still remain on the radar list. Because like that Swabian Post reports, these annoying pests can be combated now to prevent them from spreading in the coming year.
What happens there in winter? From September onwards, female tiger mosquitoes lay frost- and drought-resistant eggs. These little survivors survive the cold season and develop into larvae in the spring, ready to become active in the coming summer. In order to counteract a possible invasion, it is important to clean the breeding grounds in the garden or on the balcony in a timely manner.
Simple measures against tiger mosquitoes
The cleaning can begin now! As recommended, you should thoroughly scrub your birdbaths, pot saucers, and other possible breeding sites clean with water and a brush to remove any eggs. Remember to let the cleaning water seep into the lawn. Hot broth, i.e. water with at least 60 to 70 degrees Celsius, ensures that all eggs and larvae are killed. After cleaning, it is advisable to store the containers in a dry and cool place in the cellar or shed, if possible.
A small note for all hobby gardeners: A measure with BTI tablets is currently not effective. The tablets make little sense from mid-October to mid-April because tiger mosquito larvae do not develop during this time.

The Dialog API from Facebook offers an experience in the digital world. The ability to share news and content in a tailored manner allows users to present their content creatively. Some may have noticed that after the November 2021 update, the “message” field for the Dialog API is no longer present. Instead, using sharer.php is a better choice for link sharing.
Sharing on social platforms like Facebook is no longer uncommon these days. If you have configured your own app correctly, you can even save yourself the trouble of registering, which makes the process much easier.
In summary, it is important to be active even in the cold season and to keep an eye on the little pests. Joining forces to combat tiger mosquitoes can ensure a more relaxed summer in the coming months!
