Bundesliga season begins: Bayern vs. Leipzig at the start in Munich!
This week the DFL set the first matchdays of the new Bundesliga season. The 63rd season of the Bundesliga begins on August 22nd and the opening game will be an exciting classic: FC Bayern Munich meets RB Leipzig. Kick-off is at 8:30 p.m. in the Allianz Arena in Munich. The following Sunday, 1. FSV Mainz 05 welcomes 1. FC Köln in the first home game of the season.
1. FSV Mainz 05 will also enter the Europa Conference League play-offs on Thursday before their league game, while VfB Stuttgart will start the Bundesliga season on Saturday. On the Tuesday after the first matchday, the Swabians will play the DFB Cup game in Braunschweig.
International qualifications and the competition
The qualification paths for the international competitions are now becoming apparent. FC Bayern Munich and Bayer 04 Leverkusen have already qualified early for the Champions League. Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt will also play on the big stage next season. At the last minute, VfB Stuttgart secured the last ticket for the Europa League in the DFB Cup final.

Outlook for the coming match days
How the first few days of the game will go remains exciting. There is no Sunday game scheduled on Matchday 3 for the Champions League participants FC Bayern, Leverkusen, Frankfurt and Dortmund. This decision gives the clubs the opportunity to optimally prepare for international challenges. The games between Freiburg and Hoffenheim as well as Cologne and Stuttgart are expected to be played on Sunday.
After the 5th matchday, the first games of the Champions League and the Europa League are on the program.
