Playground in Brombach shines again: double swing and more for kids!

A joyful day for the little explorers in Brombach: The reopened playground on Ringstrasse is now ready for happy running around. After intensive renovation work, which required a lot of effort from the city, the children can now look forward to new play opportunities. The extensive work included, among other things, the replacement of the double swing, which was closed in the spring due to poor condition due to wear and tear. The long wait for new parts was annoying, but it was out of the city's hands, reports the city of Lörrach.

The redesign of the playground not only brought a new double swing with a classic seat suitable for small children, but also a climbing vertebra, which also promotes the children's fitness and dexterity. In addition, the offer for the little ones was expanded: a used play equipment from the Walldorf kindergarten found its home in a new place on the playground. This decision reflects the city's commitment to sustainability and is already being well received by the youngest visitors.

Thoughtful renovations

Additional maintenance work, such as moving the bench and renewing the edging of the fall protection area on the carousel, have further improved the playground. In total, the costs for the measures amounted to around 16,000 euros, an investment that definitely pays off when you see the children's smiling faces.

In the spring, many municipalities, including in North Rhine-Westphalia, will have started thinking about renovating and building new playgrounds. All too often, these are not designed to be inclusive, meaning that not all children, including those with disabilities, can play equally. The initiative to create inclusive playgrounds is a high priority because the opportunity for all children to play is essential.

To help municipalities with this, the free “Playground Check” app offers support. This allows them to check and improve the design of their playgrounds step by step. The app is available on smartphones, tablets or PCs and offers concrete suggestions for creating inclusive gaming offerings. This is particularly important because many playgrounds in North Rhine-Westphalia do not yet have barrier-free access, as the KBV experts discovered in the Agency Barrierefrei NRW project. Further information can be found here.

The reopening of the playground in Brombach is not only a positive signal for local families, but also a step in the right direction for the many efforts to provide inclusive play options. For the little adventurers it's now time to go out to the playground and test out the new equipment!
