65-year-old dragged by tram – driver injured!

In Mannheim, a 65-year-old man was the victim of an unfortunate tram incident in the city center on Tuesday morning. The incident happened shortly before 11 a.m. on the market square when the man tried to get on a line 4 train towards Ludwigshafen. Unfortunately, his arm got stuck in the closing door while he was still standing on the platform. The tram driver did not notice the danger and continued his journey, dragging the man all the way to the parade ground. This reports MRN News.

The 65-year-old suffered injuries to his arm caused by being dragged along the road. When he arrived at the parade ground, the man was so upset that he hit the driver several times, which resulted in the driver also sustaining injuries to his fingers, elbows and back. The police reached the scene and escorted the angry 65-year-old off the train and to the Mannheim-Oststadt police station. Investigations are now underway against the driver for negligent bodily harm and against the 65-year-old for intentional bodily harm.

You can find out more about this on the website Federal Motor Transport Authority.

While investigations into recent incidents are ongoing, it is hoped that safety in Mannheim's transport systems will be addressed seriously so that such risky situations can be avoided in the future. Because one thing is certain: everyone wants to reach their destination safely, and it should stay that way.
