Philipp Mass remains loyal to the Towerstars – keep an eye on the 2025/26 season!

Ice hockey in Ravensburg remains on track: The Towerstars are relying on consistency in defense in the coming 2025/26 season. A crucial part of this strategy is the extension of Philipp Mass' contract. The talented defender remains loyal to the German Ice Hockey League 2 runner-up and will also play for the Towerstars next season. This was reported by Schwaebische, who also pointed out that Mass is valued as a particularly valuable player and his positive influence on the team is undisputed.

With his move from the Nürnberg Ice Tigers to the Ravensburg Towerstars in the summer of 2024, Mass seamlessly continued his previous achievements. Last season he played an impressive 48 main round games and all 19 play-off games and was able to achieve a record of 3 goals and 14 assists. His coach Bo Subr particularly praised Mass' strong personality and impressive performance in the second half of the season and in the decisive play-offs. The Towerstars are relying on the development of the 24-year-old, who has already played 162 games in the top German ice hockey league.

A team in transition

The Ravensburg Towerstars didn't just keep the team in proportion. The defenders Simon Sezemsky and Julian Eichinger also remain on board. However, there are also departures to report: Leonhard Korus, the only defensive player, is leaving the Towerstars and moving to the Krefeld Pinguins. Mathew Santos, Adam Payerl and Jan Nijenhuis also left the club with him, which means a certain amount of change in the squad.

The departures take care of the demands that come with a successful season. The Towerstars now have to find the best possible new additions to close the gaps. Among the new signings are Robbie Czarnik, Erik Karlsson and Marvin Schmid, who will strengthen the team.

A look at the statistics

Mass's achievements are particularly visible in the statistics: in the last DEL2 season (2024-25) he touched the puck in 48 games, scored 2 goals and provided 9 assists, which gave him a total of 11 points. In the play-offs he was able to prove his qualities again and contributed to a total of 6 points with 1 goal and 5 assists. He also contributed 6 plus points, which speaks for his defensive work.

The Towerstars therefore have a squad that has quality and depth. The sporting director Marius Riedel emphasizes Mass’ abilities as a defender and as a person. After the positive impression of his first year with the Towerstars, Mass is also optimistic and emphasizes the team's family environment.

So it remains to be seen how the Ravensburg Towerstars will fare under the new circumstances. With Mass and his teammates, the Ravensburgers want to reap the fruits of their hard work in the coming season.
