Razorbacks Ravensburg: Strong returnees secure playoff hopes!

The ifm Razorbacks Ravensburg are well prepared for the coming season in the German Football League (GFL). After a strong performance last season, in which they won the GFL South Championship and narrowly lost to the Dresden Monarchs 24:31 in the semifinals, the signs point to success. A highlight of the season was wide receiver Tim Müller, who delivered an outstanding performance with 66 caught passes for 1,047 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Particularly noteworthy: Müller is not only the second-best Ravensburger in terms of receiving yards and touchdowns, but also took second place league-wide among German wide receivers in receiving yards. He was also able to assert himself as the best German in the touchdown category. He has now signed a new contract and will return to Ravensburg in 2026. “We are very happy about this return,” explained sporting director Oliver Billstein.

Squad planning and contract extensions

But it wasn't just Müller who extended his contract. Defensive linemen Finn Herter and Lucas Walk have also agreed to stay with the team in the future. Herter, who at 1.98 meters and 110 kilograms is entering his sixth GFL season, will continue to help defend Ravensburg's game. Walk, who was named to the GFL Allstar team in 2024 and shows a formidable physical presence at 1.80 meters and 135 kilograms, is another important part of the team.

After three successful years, offensive lineman Laurits Vinther is leaving the Razorbacks, which is a bitter loss for the club. “We very much regret his departure,” said Billstein. At the same time, offensive coordinator Jake Suggett's contract extension was announced, giving squad planning additional momentum.

Playoff backup and future goals

The Razorbacks have already impressively demonstrated their strength this season. In an outstanding game against the Pforzheim Wilddogs, they won 56:21 last Saturday evening. Over 1,500 spectators were present in the TeleData Stadium and saw Ravensburg take the lead in the southern group of the ERIMA GFL 1. With this win, the Razorbacks secured their playoff participation.

Pforzheim's head coach aptly described the Razorbacks as the "team of the second half" because after an initial deficit, the Ravensburgers brilliantly equalized. A 60-yard pass to Tim Müller set the stage for victory, after which the Razorbacks' defense blocked a Wilddogs field goal and took control of the game.

“We want to secure home rights for the playoffs and win the southern championship,” explained Billstein. A possible playoff home game in the TeleData Stadium on September 21, 2025 is already planned. Preparations are in full swing and the team is confident about the future.
