Big festival weekend: free rides on the Wieslauftalbahn!
This year, the Wieslauftalbahn can look back on an impressive 30-year history. To mark this anniversary, a very special gift will be given to passengers on June 28th and 29th: use of the train between Schorndorf and Rudersberg-Nord is completely free on these two days. The Stuttgarter Nachrichten reports that this offer applies primarily to people who do not have a Germany Ticket, D-Ticket Have a JugendBW, VVS subscription or time ticket.
For anyone wanting to travel from Stuttgart, we recommend using the S-Bahn or regional trains, which cover the route to Schorndorf in around 30 minutes. A regular VVS ticket is required for the journey to Schorndorf itself, but this unique offer makes it easier for many people to access the Wieslauftalbahn.
Exciting program for the anniversary
But the anniversary has even more to offer! On Saturday, June 28th, an open workshop day will take place in the workshop hall in Rudersberg from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Families with children are particularly welcome here. In addition to a look behind the scenes, there is the opportunity to ride in the cab of the “Wiesel”, spin the wheel of fortune and take part in creative crafts. Physical well-being is also taken care of, so that young and old can get their money's worth.
The entire festival weekend is being celebrated as part of the 50th anniversary of the Rudersberg Festival and promises to be a real highlight in the event calendar. In VVS.de you can also find an overview of the timetables and upcoming events in order to plan your visit optimally.
Public transport as a mobility solution
The importance of local public transport (ÖPNV) is being brought into more and more light these days. The federal government is planning to expand and modernize this central element for climate-friendly mobility. Information from the Federal Government shows that public transport is used by around 20 million passengers every day and thus makes a significant contribution to public services. It is also emphasized that public transport not only improves traffic flows, but also contributes to the quality of life in our cities.
The attractiveness of public transport is further increased, particularly through innovative approaches such as the Deutschlandticket and special campaigns such as the free trips to the Wieslauftalbahn anniversary celebrations. With such actions, the city shows that mobility is not only necessary, but can also be made tangible and friendly.
