Christmas visit: Mayor Keck thanks Reutlingen's blue light helpers!
Christmas Eve in Reutlingen is traditionally celebrated with a festive atmosphere and appreciation for the tireless work of the blue light organizations. Mayor Thomas Keck once again did his best this year and visited various institutions to express his thanks to the volunteers. A fine yeast plait – both with and without raisins – was a must to honor the loving service provided. RTF1 reports that in addition to the mayor, the CDU member of the Bundestag Michael Donth was also present. As the Maltese district representative, Donth makes a special contribution to promoting community work.
What is particularly noteworthy is that the Malteser, one of the most renowned blue light organizations, is also on duty around the clock with its emergency service for the city's residents on Christmas Eve. Numerous volunteers are committed to this purpose and are there to help in difficult times.
Dedicated helpers in focus
The Malteser's work is supported by a variety of institutions, including the Arbeiter-Samaritan-Bund (ASB). This aid and welfare organization is active not only in Reutlingen, but throughout Germany and is dedicated to supporting people in need. Volunteering with blue lights describes the ASB as politically and religiously independent. Around 1.3 million people are already involved, and the organization offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities.
With 40,000 full-time and over 20,000 volunteer employees, the ASB ensures comprehensive deployment in the areas of rescue services as well as civil defense and disaster protection. With such commitment it becomes clear: Behind the emergency vehicles is not just technology, but above all the hearts of the people who work for others.
Volunteering: There’s even more!
Volunteering plays a central role in society, especially in the run-up to Christmas, which stands for community cohesion and support. The Malteser Service impressively shows how important and necessary such initiatives are. If you want to become active yourself, you have a variety of options, be it with ASB or the Maltesers. Those interested can find information on this, for example, at Malteser.de.
Christmas Eve in Reutlingen is all about solidarity and togetherness. Honoring those who do their best every day makes this celebration special and shows that Christmas is more than just presents - it's about humanity and solidarity. Without a doubt, the volunteers are the heart of these organizations, often operating in the background while they are there for their fellow human beings in their time of need.
