District election in the Rhine-Neckar district: Frühwirt and Just in a duel!
Things are getting exciting in the Rhein-Neckar district: the election of the new district administrator will take place on February 3, 2026, and two candidates will compete against each other. Manuel Just from the CDU, FDP and FWG is known as the mayor of Weinheim, while Ralf Frühwirt from the Greens, who holds the parliamentary group spokesman role in the district council, has also made his application official. Frank Werner, the chairman of the special decision-making committee, has now confirmed Frühwirt's candidacy and announced that the next decisions will be made on November 18th in order to be able to admit both applicants to the election.
Ralf Frühwirt, who was born in 1961, has been working for the Green Party in the district council since 1994 and has made a name for himself as their spokesman since 2011. Active in Leimen, where he has sat on the local council since 1984 and became parliamentary group leader in 1985, Frühwirt is also involved in the association meeting of the Rhine-Neckar Region Association. He also holds important positions such as chairman of the supervisory board of the Leimen Citizens' Energy Cooperative and is also a member of the advisory board of the St. Ilgen Generation Center and Attac.
Election preparations underway
The special decision-making committee responsible for the election has already started preparations for the election. On November 18th, not only will a decision be made about the admission of the two candidates, but the final organizational details will also be on the agenda. Both candidates have assured that they will respect the free, democratic basic order in accordance with the Basic Law.
The inauguration of the new district administrator will finally take place on May 1, 2026 and marks the beginning of a new era in the political landscape of the Rhine-Neckar district. While the election campaign looks set to gain momentum in the coming months, it remains to be seen which issues will be at the forefront.
A look at the past and the meaning of the election
Elections are not new territory for the region. The political landscape is currently permeated by a multitude of issues that are important to voters. The upcoming change in the district administration is eagerly awaited as it concerns the future of local politics. Frühwirt and Just are faced with the challenge of convincingly presenting their ideas and visions for the Rhine-Neckar district.
The last few years have shown how important it is to give politically active citizens a voice. This happens not only in the big cities, but also in the smaller communities. Candidates are tested on their ability to truly represent the interests of their constituents.
This means that the political spotlight is not only focused on the Rhine-Neckar district. At a time when local politics is becoming increasingly important, platforms like YouTube are also experiencing a real boom and have become indispensable. The widespread use of social media shows how important online presence has become for communication about political issues. YouTube, as one of the largest video platforms, not only generates interest but has fundamentally changed the way we consume content.
The course for the future is being set in the Rhine-Neckar region. The candidates not only have the opportunity to convince with their programs, but also to have a good feel for the social upheavals that are occurring due to advancing digitalization.
