Major operation in Flözlingen: Fire brigade rescues animals from blazing stable!
On Friday evening, October 17, 2025, there was a B4 fire in Flözlingen. According to the Schwarzwälder Bote, the glow of the fire was already visible from afar when the fire department arrived. An agricultural vehicle on Bergstrasse was in blazing flames and the fire department was called into action on a large scale.
Thanks to the rapid action of the emergency services, the fire was successfully prevented from spreading to adjacent buildings. A tractor and a combine harvester were also affected, but fortunately there were no personal injuries. Two cattle that were in the stable had to be rescued. As a precaution, the fire department had a neighboring seminar house evacuated to ensure the safety of residents.
Fire service deployment and support
Around 60 firefighters were on duty, supported by an aerial work platform and a tank fire engine from Rottweil. Over ten emergency services from the German Red Cross (DRK) and the rescue service were also on site so that they could intervene quickly in an emergency. The extinguishing work continued, while the exact cause of the fire remains unclear.
Similar incidents in the region
A similar incident recently occurred in the Hof district, where a cowshed caught fire around 9:45 p.m. and almost all of the 200 cows died. Only six animals survived the tragic incident. The damage is estimated at a six-figure, possibly even seven-figure amount. Here too, the exact results of the investigation into the cause of the fire remain to be seen, as reported by Bayerischer Rundfunk.
Fires on farms are by no means uncommon. According to an overview by FeuerTrutz, there are no comprehensive, uniform statistics for such incidents in Germany, which makes analysis and the necessary fire protection more difficult. Nevertheless, it is clear that safety measures are urgently needed to minimize damage and loss of human and animal life.
As the statistics show, improving fire safety could benefit significantly from comprehensive data analysis. The responsibility lies with the owners of agricultural businesses, who should invest wisely in the security of their property.
The fire department will continue to do everything in its power to minimize these types of operations and preventatively combat the causes of fires. The operations often place great emotional and financial pressure on the farmers and residents affected. Everyone in Flözlingen and the surrounding area wants such incidents to become a thing of the past as quickly as possible.
