Bad Saulgau celebrates sustainability: cake, markets and action weeks!

In Bad Saulgau everything revolves around sustainability! The “Living sustainably – acting fairly” event will take place from September 12th to October 8th. The goal? Promoting diversity and responsibility, an initiative that coordinates with the nationwide Fair Week and the Klima.LÄND.Tage in Baden-Württemberg, such as Schwäbische.de reported.

A festival for environmentally conscious and taste lovers that offers numerous offers. The city library invites you to visit with media on topics such as sustainability, saving energy and fair trade. In addition, some fruit trees in the city are marked with yellow color rings, which enable them to be harvested free of charge for their own needs - an action that sets an example against food waste and promotes appreciation for regional products bad-saulgau.de.

Culinary highlights and activities

The Klostercafé Sießen has created something delicious especially for those with a sweet tooth: from September 12th to 26th there is a tasty chocolate banana cake, prepared with fair ingredients. Guests can fortify themselves with fair coffee and hot chocolate. And that's not all! From September 20th there will be further tasting campaigns for fair chocolates from Africa in the Bad Saulgau world shop, supplemented by works of art from fair kindergartens that show the creativity of the little ones.

For nature lovers, guided tours and activities are offered through the tourist information office. A beaver tour starts on September 12th, while nesting box building for adults and children is scheduled for September 13th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. - a small fee of 25 euros applies. In addition, on September 26th, the biodiversity in the nature theme park can be experienced.

Events and markets

Another highlight is the large autumn flea market on September 20th from 8 a.m., which has around 480 stalls. Here you can find curiosities, books, clothing, art and much more. The Ländle market will finally take place on October 4th and 5th with 50 exhibitors of regional products. For anyone who would like to find out more about regional diversity, there is an interactive shopping guide available, which also offers a map for fair, ecological or regional offers.

The program is rounded off by the exhibition “remembering nature”, which opens on September 14th in the “Fähre” gallery. This addresses climate change and the relationship between humans and nature and runs until November 23rd.

Bad Saulgau on the way to becoming a fair trade city

Bad Saulgau has been on the path to becoming a more sustainable place for some time. The city was recently recertified as a Fairtrade Town for the second time and aims to align its actions with the 17 sustainability goals of the 2030 Agenda. For example, the city has created a staff position for municipal development policy in order to anchor the important topics of sustainable procurement and fair trade in everyday administrative life ( bad-saulgau.de, luebeck.de ).

Once a year, Bad Saulgau also organizes initiatives and projects that encourage citizens to get involved, such as the memory game on the global sustainability goals, supported by Engagement Global gGmbH. With these activities, Bad Saulgau shows that the topic of sustainability can not only be preached, but also lived and experienced with each individual.
