on Thursday evening, around 8:00 p.m., an incident occurred on the Rhine near the Konrad-Adenauer-Bridge, in which four rowers were luckily unharmed. The rowboat, which was occupied with the four athletes, collided with a buoy for a previously unclear reason, which led to a cap of the boat.

The rowers came overboard after the impact and drove down the Rhine together with the damaged boat. In this critical situation, however, there were other rowing boats nearby that reacted quickly. The helpers were able to safely absorb those fallen into the water and bring them to the bank of the Rhine.

The alarmed emergency services of the Bonn fire brigade, including fire stations 1, 2 and 3, supported on site in securing and recovering the rowboat. The German Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft (DLRG) and the water protection police were also on duty to cope with the situation.

After ensuring that everyone involved was brought to safety, the secure boat, accompanied by further rescue measures, was able to continue its journey to the nearby rowing station on the right side of the Rhine. The rapid action of the witnesses and emergency services prevented worse and shows the important role of vigilance on the water.
