Felix Edwardsson: The Swedish basketball star is coming to Tübingen!

A new name brings a breath of fresh air to the Tigers Tübingen: Felix Edwardsson is moving from the ART Giants Düsseldorf to the Tigers for the 2025/2026 season. The 26-year-old Swede not only brings talent, but also valuable experience from eight years in German basketball. Edwardsson, who is considered a basketball German, will wear number eight and should give the team a new dimension. Sports director Eric Detlev emphasizes his versatility and ability to work in a team as great strengths that he can bring to the young team. Edwardsson recently played 31 games for the ART Giants, averaging 3.7 points and 2.6 assists per game, which is quite respectable for a player at his position.

The Uppsala native was born on February 22, 1999 and has a sporty family in which he grew up with three siblings. Felix started his basketball career at Uppsala Baskets, where he quickly attracted interest from the national teams and became a Swedish junior national player. In 2015 he moved to the youth department at Brose Bamberg, which not only marked his development but also his commitment in Germany.

Career and strengths of the newcomer

In the following years, Edwardsson played in various German teams, including the Baunach Young Pikes, the wiha Panthers Schwenningen and the MLP Academics Heidelberg. Particularly worth mentioning is his great success in 2016, when he won the German championship title with Breitengüßbach's U19 team. After his relegation with Baunach in the 2018/19 season, he was active in the ProA and re-entered the scene with the Wiha Panthers in 2020, where he made a remarkable 28 appearances in the 2020/21 season with an average of 6.8 points per game.

After a short foray back to Jämtland Basket in Sweden, Edwardsson returned to Germany and signed with the ART Giants Düsseldorf in August 2023 before taking the step to the Tigers. He brings valuable international experience from his time in the Swedish U20 national team, which could make him an important player for Tübingen.

Looking ahead to the coming season

The current Tigers Tübingen squad for the 2025/2026 season is already promising and, in addition to Felix Edwardsson, includes players such as Melkizedek Moreaux, Miles Tention and Marvin Heckel. The team will certainly delight the fans in Tübingen because most of the team have proven themselves in the league and show a lot of potential. The new coach Henrik Sonko, who already knows Edwardsson from the youth national team, sees him as exactly the addition the team needs.

The BARMER 2nd Basketball Bundesliga is in the starting blocks and the transfer of Edwardsson is just one of many exciting moves on the transfer market. The transfer market is in full swing, and in addition to the Tigers, big teams like FC Bayern Munich and Alba Berlin have shown activity that will further heat up the league, as Basketball World reports.
