Laichingen has a fascinating geological attraction that is of interest not only to technology and nature lovers: the Laichinger Tiefenhöhle. This shaft cave is the only one of its kind in Germany that has been converted into a show cave. It was discovered in 1892 by Johann Georg Mack while he was working in the dolomite. The cave has been open to the public since the 1930s and offers a guided tour of 350 meters. It was officially opened as a visitor cave in 1935 and has attracted numerous interested visitors ever since. The speleological museum, which opened in 2002, also underlines the importance of the cave for research and education. It serves as an information point for the UNESCO Swabian Alb Geopark and promotes knowledge about regional geological features.

A parking lot is available for visitors, and in the nearby rest house you can enjoy light meals and refreshing drinks while the children let off steam in the playground or use the barbecue facilities.

For hikers, there is also a twelve-kilometer-long karst hiking trail that presents numerous karst phenomena - an ideal destination for a family trip. Laichingen combines an exciting story with natural wonders and a place to relax.
