Traffic chaos near Neu-Ulm: Adenauerbrücke construction site causes traffic jams!
The city of Neu-Ulm will face new traffic disruptions in the coming days as construction work on the Adenauer Bridge is in full swing. From Monday, November 10th to Friday, November 14th, tree protection and tree care measures will be carried out along Federal Highway 10 in the direction of Neu-Ulm. This work takes place daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and imposes some restrictions on drivers. The entrance to the B 10 from the direction of Zinglerstrasse/Bismarckring (via Furttenbachstrasse) will be narrowed to one lane, while the right-hand lane on the B 10 remains closed to the Adenauerbrücke, as Augsburger Allgemeine reported.
In addition, the right lane in the Westringtunnel will be closed in the direction of Neu-Ulm. The lane departure begins north of the Söflinger roundabout, although it is still possible to exit the B 10 into the Söflinger roundabout and drive from the Söflinger roundabout into the Westring tunnel. Drivers have to be prepared for a longer journey time, as construction work on the Adenauer Bridge is scheduled to last until 2029. This bridge is an important connection between Ulm and Neu-Ulm and is used by around 94,100 motor vehicles every day.
The total costs for the new construction of the 365 meter long bridge amount to almost 80 million euros. The new Adenauer Bridge is scheduled to go into operation in 2029. The new bridge is intended to significantly improve traffic flow in this area and will have a total of eight lanes.
Traffic restrictions and diversions
Already last week there were the first traffic restrictions in connection with the construction project, as noted on the website of the Krumbach State Building Authority. On Monday and Tuesday, November 3rd and 4th, the entrance to the B 10 from the direction of Zinglerstrasse/Bismarckring (via Furttenbachstrasse) was closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. The right-hand interlacing strip in the direction of Neu-Ulm also had to give way to the Adenauer Bridge. Motorists were redirected via the Bismarckring/Söflinger roundabout onto the B 10 into the Westringtunnel.
From Wednesday, November 5th to Friday, November 7th, restrictions were also planned, during which the right lane of the B 10 and the interconnecting lane in the direction of Neu-Ulm between the Westringtunnel and Adenauerbrücke were also closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. However, the left lane of the B 10 remained usable without restrictions at these times. The ongoing renovation work and the associated traffic restrictions have brought the city administration and the building authority into close contact with residents and road users. It is now important to have the necessary patience, because the long-term improvement in the traffic situation will definitely pay off when the new bridge can finally accommodate traffic in 2029.
