Confusion about Selke's future: move to Antalya or stay at HSV?
The rumor mill surrounding Hamburger SV is bubbling. Today, July 9, 2025, the signs point to farewell for Davie Selke. The HSV striker has an expiring contract and Turkish media are reporting an alleged agreement with Antalyaspor. But as T-Online reports, there is not much to it. Selke wants to see for himself on site in Istanbul, while Hamburger SV still hasn't received any concrete offers from big clubs like Galatasaray, Fenerbahce or Besiktas.
After a strong season in which Selke scored 23 goals in 33 competitive games, it remains uncertain where the journey will lead. However, a farewell seems more likely than a contract extension. Additional speculation surrounds interest from England and the Bundesliga in the 30-year-old. As can be seen from 90min, it is crucial for HSV to further strengthen the team after promotion to the Bundesliga.
Departures and new arrivals
HSV is faced with a number of changes in the transfer phase. In addition to Selke, Lucas Perrin is also leaving the club. The central defender will move to Sporting Gijon in the Spanish Segunda División. Perrin was previously loaned out to Cercle Bruges and came to Hamburg from Racing Strasbourg in 2022, as T-Online reports.
The Hamburgers are still looking for reinforcements. The central defense in particular could soon receive growth, as both HSV and Werder Bremen have their eye on Armel Bella-Kotchap. The Southampton FC player still has a contract until 2026 but is fighting for a place in the first eleven after only playing four league games last season.
Interested in other talents
HSV has also put out feelers for other talents. Among other things, Yussuf Poulsen is considered a potential successor to Selke. The attacker has plenty of Bundesliga experience and could be available for a fee of between two and three million euros, while a one-off payment from Leipzig is on the cards. Other names such as Adam Karabec and Lesley Ugochukwu are also being targeted to strengthen the midfield.
Karabec returns to Sparta Prague after HSV failed to take up a purchase option. Ugochukwu, a promising 21-year-old Frenchman, could bring a breath of fresh air to the midfield, but the transfer fee of 18 million euros is a deterrent. A loan would be desirable – or perhaps a change? The future remains exciting.
Test match results and team orientation
Coach Merlin Polzin is optimistic and is sparing important players in the test matches. HSV recently won a friendly against VfB Oldenburg 2-1. After falling behind early on due to Mats Facklam, Hamburg came back with goals from Jean-Luc Dompé and Guilherme Ramos. HSV had previously defeated TSV Elstorf 8-1 in a convincing friendly.
However, the question remains open: How will HSV fare in the coming Bundesliga season? The club's era in the upper house is new and requires both tactical sophistication and fresh talent in order not to lose touch.
