Burning house in Dogern: Major fire department operation in the forest!

On Saturday morning, July 5, 2025, a fire broke out in an uninhabited residential building in a forest near Dogern, which quickly mobilized emergency services. The alarm was raised around 8:40 a.m. when witnesses noticed an impressive column of smoke in the Eschbach Valley South Courier reported. Fire brigades from the area as well as police and Red Cross emergency services quickly came together to get the fire under control.

The location of the affected house was particularly challenging. Like that too WDR reported that long water pipes had to be laid through the forest during the extinguishing work because a dry stream did not provide a direct source of water.

Fire under control

After intensive extinguishing efforts, the police received the all-clear late in the morning: the fire was under control. However, no details are known about the cause of the fire and the criminal investigation department will not begin its investigation into the fire ruins until Monday at the earliest. The ownership of the house is also still pending. The amount of damage cannot currently be quantified.

The risk of forest fires has increased in the region in recent weeks after the Waldshut district recently banned barbecues in and near forests (up to 100 meters away). These measures are part of a broader forest fire prevention strategy, which is also informed by the data from the Federal Environment Agency is supported. Despite the decline in forest fires in Germany between 1991 and 2017, the risk from extreme weather conditions, particularly in connection with global warming, remains relevant.
