HSG Hossingen/Meßstetten before a decisive duel against the bottom of the table!

After HSG Hossingen/Meßstetten lost in a thrilling duel against SpVgg Mössingen last week, they will now face SG Gutach/Wolfach next Sunday. This meeting will take place at 5 p.m. in the Heuberghalle Meßstetten. The HSG have shown so far this season that they can score goals on an assembly line, as they have already exceeded the 40-goal mark twice, as Schwarzälder Bote reports. But the defense has shown weaknesses in the last few games, which brings excitement into the duel with the bottom of the table, SG Gutach/Wolfach.

At first glance, this encounter looks like a solvable task. While HSG Hossingen/Meßstetten goes into the game with positive self-confidence, SG Gutach/Wolfach has already suffered a number of bitter defeats this season and has only played two games competitively. The HSG can therefore go onto the pitch with optimism.

Season highlights and challenges

In the season so far, HSG Hossingen/Meßstetten has proven to be strong offensively, which is also reflected in the high number of goals. Despite the high number of goals scored, they urgently need to work on their defense in order not to fall behind against weaker opponents. In another game for HSG Albstadt, which will play against SG Dunningen/Schramberg on Saturday, the omens are also promising: In third place, they go into the game with 6:0 points, while SG Dunningen/Schramberg is currently at the bottom of the table with 2:8 points. Schwarzälder Bote also highlights the appeal of coach Gülfidan Balci, who warns against underestimating the opponents.

HSG Albstadt has some injury problems to deal with, as two players may be out with ankle and knee injuries, which further complicates the situation for the coach, but does not cause any real squad problems.

Handball in the German context

Handball is enjoying ever-increasing popularity in Germany, which is also reflected in the number of spectators. In the handball Bundesliga, which has existed since 1966, the games attract around 1.5 million spectators to the arenas every year. As Statista shows, THW Kiel occupies first place in the HBL's all-time table and is also the record winner of the DHB Cup. The fascination for handball is also evident internationally: The Danish national team recently won its fourth world championship title in a row, which underlines the position of handball as the number two popular sport in Germany.

We are excited to see how HSG Hossingen/Meßstetten and HSG Albstadt will perform in their upcoming games and whether they can continue the positive trend. Fingers crossed!
