Accident numbers are rising in Meßstetten: the security situation is tense!
In Meßstetten, the crime and traffic situation is the focus of the 2024 annual report. The numbers show both encouraging and worrying trends, and citizens are excited about what this means for their safety.
As far as accident statistics are concerned, there was an increase in total accidents in Meßstetten in 2024 to 191, compared to 176 in 2023. Particularly alarming are the increases in personal injuries, which climbed from 16 to 29. However, upon closer inspection, the casualties become the main thing: the number rose to 35, and tragically there was one death, whereas last year there were no deaths. The number of seriously injured people has also doubled to nine. An accident hotspot is still in the city center, especially on Ebinger Straße, where the traffic density is high. These figures are part of comprehensive road safety statistics aimed at improving protection through legislation and infrastructure, such as destatis.de reported.
Decrease in crimes
The significant decline in crimes in Meßstetten is all the more pleasing. While 1,058 crimes were recorded in 2023, this number fell to 714 in 2024. Shoplifting in particular fell significantly, from 841 to 480. The clearance rate has also improved and is now 22.1 percent, compared to 16.6 percent the year before. These successes are the result of intensive police work and have a positive effect on the feeling of security in the community.
A look at the districts shows that the core city is still the most affected with 570 crimes, followed by Oberdigisheim and Tieringen, where the numbers have also been reduced. Conversely, there were some unpleasant developments, such as an increase in thefts under difficult circumstances and a residential burglary, which were not yet recorded in 2023.
Police presence and citizen engagement
At the last meeting of the city council, no question was asked of police chief Jens Döppert, but mayor Frank Schroft expressed his thanks for the continued presence of police work in the city. This constant support is important for citizens and creates a feeling of security.
With these developments, it is to be hoped that the efforts to ensure safety in Meßstetten will continue to bear fruit. It remains to be seen how the numbers will develop in the coming year and whether the positive trends will continue. One thing is certain: the city has a good knack for maintaining quality of life and putting a stop to criminal activity.
