Alliance for Democracy: The next step in strengthening civil society!

A new alliance for democracy has been formed in the Wittelsbacher Land, and the first public meeting took place in the Aichach-Friedberg district office. Around 30 committed representatives from a wide range of areas, including civil society, youth and education work as well as local politics, took part in this important first meeting. The goal is clear: to develop strategies to strengthen democracy in the region. The next meeting will take place on Thursday, October 30th at 3:30 p.m. in the district office meeting room. The program also includes a follow-up meeting planned for February or March 2024. Interested citizens are welcome to take part in the discussions and contribute their own ideas.

Live democracy!

A central component of this initiative is the participation of the Aichach-Friedberg district in the federal program “Live Democracy!”. This positive news recently came from the Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. The district is now part of 330 nationwide “Partnerships for Democracy” and has set itself the goal of developing concepts to promote democracy and diversity and combat extremism by 2032. The program offers a unique opportunity to strengthen civil society networking, as lra-aic-fdb.de explains.

District Administrator Dr. Klaus Metzger underlines the important role of the newly established youth district council, which has been active since May 2022. The district has around 35,000 euros available for 2025, including 5,000 euros for a newly established youth fund that specifically supports projects for young people. This shows that great importance is placed on the needs of the younger generation.

From 2026, a total of 100,000 euros will be available annually to support projects. The commitment of the responsible committees of the district council shows that the structures for this important project are currently still being set up in order to sustainably promote democratic dialogue.

Götz Gölitz from the Education Office is available to answer any questions or suggestions. He looks forward to the exchange and can be reached by email at goetz.goelitz@lra-aic-fdb.de or by telephone at 08251/92481. It will be exciting to see how this initiative will develop further.
