Altötting's young talent inspires at the international tournament in Ourém!
International football brings young people together and offers unforgettable experiences. The Altötting team from JFG Ötting/Inn proved this at the first international football tournament “Youngs for Peace”, which took place from June 19th to 21st, 2025 in the twin city Ourém-Fátima. With a team of 12 led by coach Mitch Rasp, the young kickers from Altötting took part in this brilliant field, which was not only characterized by support but also by top-class encounters.
This premiere event, organized by the municipality of Ourém, brought together a total of seven international teams from the “Shrines of Europe” as well as five teams from Portugal. The individual groups were drawn using an online system, which created additional excitement and anticipation. For the Altötting team it was more than just a football tournament - it was an opportunity to represent the city on an international platform, as Rasp proudly emphasized, underlining the importance of this experience for the children.
Kicker with heart and commitment
The Altötting delegation started the exciting adventure with a reception by the First Mayor Stephan Antwerp on June 5, 2025. The team wore a special jersey in the city colors of Altötting and bravely faced the challenges. Despite strong competition, the team made it to the quarter-finals - a remarkable achievement that demonstrated the solidarity and talent of the players.
Overall, the young footballers experienced an exciting group and elimination phase, which was complemented by other activities such as visits to the holy cities of Fátima and Lisbon. The connection to the “Shrines of Europe” and participation in an event that promotes exchange and understanding between different cultures shows how important such initiatives are.
International exchange through football
Participation in international tournaments such as “Youngs for Peace” is in line with the values of Euro-Sportring, which organizes events for youth teams worldwide. These tournaments allow teams to not only compete within their own boundaries, but also to think outside the box. The organization offers a variety of offerings so that every team, regardless of budget, has the opportunity to showcase themselves on the international stage and make new friends.

The experiences that the young footballers were able to gain in Ourém-Fátima are priceless. You not only learn sport, but also values such as team spirit, fairness and international friendship. As I said, there is something to be said for children discovering new horizons beyond sport.
The team is now heading back to Altötting, equipped with valuable memories and hopefully new friendships that will last across borders. The next tournament will definitely be around the corner - and you can look forward to more great results and experiences.
