Celebration of new citizens: Amberg district welcomes 130 new Germans!
A celebration in the Amberg-Sulzbach district was all about new residents. Around 130 people received German citizenship in the last few months and around 30 of them came to the König-Ruprecht-Saal to receive their naturalization certificates. District Administrator Richard Reisinger emphasized how important such events are in an increasingly aging society and that new residents deserve the necessary support. The representatives of the Immigration Office and the Federal Office for Migration were also present to recognize this important step.
German Federal President Walter Steinmeier sent his greetings to the new citizens in a video and praised their decision to choose Germany. A moving moment was the ceremonial handover of the naturalization certificate to Realyn Dziengel, who has lived in Germany for 13 years. By saying that she felt comfortable here and appreciated German culture, she spoke the naturalization formula and reaffirmed her loyalty to the Basic Law.
A sign of integration
The event was a real sign of integration. The vhs director Claudia Mai praised the individual stories and courage of the naturalized people. Mayors from the various communities in the district were also present and warmly welcomed the new residents:
- Sulzbach-Rosenberg: 12 Neubürger (Dritte Bürgermeisterin Hildegard Geismann)
- Hirschau: 3 Neubürger (Bürgermeister Hermann Falk)
- Ursensollen: 2 Neubürger (Bürgermeister Erwin Geitner)
- Kümmersbruck: 3 Neubürger (Bürgermeister Roland Strehl)
- Freudenberg: 1 Neubürger (Bürgermeister Alwin Märkl)
- Edelsfeld: 1 Neubürger (Bürgermeister Hans-Jürgen Strehl)
- Königstein: 1 Neubürger (Jörk Kaduk)
- Poppenricht: 1 Neubürger (Bürgermeister Hermann Böhm)
- Freihung: 2 Neubürger (Bürgermeister Uwe König)
Each individual received a small gift from the district administrator before the event ended with a hearty buffet prepared by the kitchen of the St. Anna District Hospital. Such celebrations are not only an act of recognition, but also an invitation to actively participate in society.
Opportunities through naturalization
Naturalization in Germany is an important step for integration. Germany has developed into an immigration society and offers people from all over the world the chance to start a new life. The federal government is also planning to ease access to German citizenship, which could further promote the integration process. In many countries, naturalization is seen as a reward for successful integration and opens up numerous opportunities: from better career prospects to political participation.
Studies show that the liberalization of citizenship law particularly benefits women, who are then more likely to enter the labor market and invest more in their training. This shows how important such measures are for society as a whole. The positive effects of naturalization on integration are noticeable, even if they are difficult to measure empirically. Nevertheless, events like the one in the Amberg-Sulzbach district are a living example of how integration can succeed.
For new citizens, this means not just a piece of paper, but real belonging and the opportunity to actively participate in society. At a time when community and cohesion are needed more than ever, this is a valuable step in the right direction.
