Arjen Robben becomes U14 trainer at FC Groningen-a new chapter!

Groningen, Niederlande - Arjen Robben, the former Dutch international, takes over the U14 of his youth club FC Groningen. After his active career, which he ended at FC Groningen in 2021, the 41-year-old is now devoting himself to training. The first division soccer team presented Robben as part of a new team of coaches for the young teams. Byron Bakker, head of football development at FC Groningen, proudly expressed the importance of Robbens Engagement as head coach.

Robben brings a remarkable experience as a player after he was active for FC Bayern from 2009 to 2019. There he celebrated numerous successes, including several championships, trophies and winning the Champions League. In addition to his player career, Robben has already taken on smaller training tasks on the campus of FC Groningen in recent years.

First steps as a trainer

The coming season will be a special challenge for Robben because it is heading its own team for the first time. In the last two seasons he has already worked with various youth teams from the club, and Heinz Bakker is convinced that Robben will also leave a strong impression on the coaching bench with his extensive gaming experience and passion.

Before his commitment to FC Groningen, Robben trained his son Luka's team at the amateur club Be Quick in Groningen in 1887. He will certainly benefit this experience if he now takes responsibility for the U14 and promotes the young talents of the association.

Requirements for the coaching profession

The topic of trainer development is also of great importance in the Netherlands. For example, the German Football Association (DFB) has started a project since 2021 that uses trainers in performance centers to raise the quality of the training. These measures could serve as inspiration for seals while developing his own concepts and approaches to coaching youth players.

The DFB project pursues the goal of further developing trainers and taking into account various aspects of talent seal and funding. This targeted support and training of the trainers could be the key in order not only to increase the individual performance of the players, but also to professionalize the entire career development in youth football.

Arjen Robben now has the opportunity to pass on his knowledge and experience to the next generation of football players. His commitment to FC Groningen marks a promising step in his new role as a trainer.
