Augsburg creates oases of well-being: new baby rooms for parents!
On November 3rd, 2025 the time has come: the city of Augsburg is launching a new offer that will particularly please parents with babies. Baby rooms are now available in various public facilities that have been specially designed to offer families a quiet retreat. Whether breastfeeding, feeding or changing – in these family-friendly rooms parents will find the privacy they need and the appropriate facilities.
The equipment is well thought out and includes, among other things, changing facilities, comfortable seating, diaper disposal, bottle warmers and washing facilities. The use of these rooms is at your own responsibility and is coordinated by the Office for Children, Youth and Families (AKJF). This initiative is an important step to support families in Augsburg, as social officer Martin Schenkelberg emphasizes.
Focus on family-friendly offers
But it's not just the new baby rooms that are the city's focus. Another interesting offer is the “Parent-Child Lounge”, which offers parents with babies aged 2-6 months a platform for exchange. Organized by Tatiana Götz-Laskowski, an experienced educator and mother, the lounge aims to create a feel-good atmosphere in which topics such as breastfeeding, sleeping and complementary feeding take center stage.
The parent-child lounge includes a total of six sessions, each lasting 50 minutes. In the first session, participants come together and prioritize their topics, while subsequent sessions delve deeper into the individual topics. At the last session, a souvenir will be made, which is sure to leave a lasting impression.
Dates and prices
The first dates are scheduled for October and November and are aimed at a maximum number of participants of nine families. The costs are 75 euros for a parent with a baby and 90 euros for a couple of parents with a baby. Those interested can find further information on the Relational Family website.
The new baby rooms and the parent-child lounge complement each other perfectly and offer parents in Augsburg not only places to retreat, but also a platform for exchanging ideas and learning about important topics in early parenthood. For an overview of the baby rooms, the family compass is available at familien-kompass.augsburg.de/institutions/baby-raum, while potential cooperation partners approach familien-kompass@augsburg.de to become part of this valuable initiative.
Overall, with these initiatives, Augsburg shows that the city has a good hand when it comes to supporting families and ensuring an exchange that goes well beyond the first few months with the newborn.
