Massive protests against AfD: Bichl stands together for diversity!
A lot happened in Bad Tölz on October 24, 2025. The city witnessed both politically and socially exciting developments that captivated many citizens. In very cloudy weather conditions with occasional rain showers and temperatures up to 17 degrees, not only the clouds created a dense atmosphere, but also an announced AfD event.
A “citizens’ dialogue” by the AfD took place in Bichl, organized by four members of the Bundestag. Despite the unusual activity of the AfD in this region, which traditionally has little involvement in election campaigns, the event was considered questionable by a broad alliance of local politicians, associations and citizens. The 22-year-old FDP district chairman Simon Roloff, initiator of the counter-demonstration, warned of the dangers that could come from the AfD. Around 200 people gathered under the banner “For Democracy and Diversity” and the protest started at 6 p.m. at the war memorial in Bichl, while the AfD event was taking place there at the same time. The local political community remained divided, with Mayor Benedikt Pössenbacher remaining neutral while landlord Michael Eidenschink was unimpressed by the AfD event. This political game took place against the backdrop of the previous federal election, in which the AfD received 16.5 percent of the second votes in Bichl - an increase of 9.6 percentage points.
A full program on the weekend
The shadow of the political debate did not fall on the local cultural and event program. Numerous events are planned for the coming weekend, October 25th and 26th. The planetarium in Bad Tölz offers an evening of “autumn constellations”, while a second-hand fashion market is held in Bad Heilbrunn. For families there is the children's theater “The Little Witch” in Sachsenkam, and the anniversary of the mountain and Antlaß rifle company is celebrated in Gaißach.
On Sunday, opera lovers will enjoy a performance of “La Traviata” in Bad Tölz, and a benefit concert by the basilica choir will take place in Benediktbeuern. Citizens can also take part in various church services and social gatherings, some of which are directly related to the activities of the Bavarian Mountain Rescue Service, which is celebrating the topping-out ceremony of a center for alpine safety on the same weekend.
Headlines about construction activities and safety measures
But even beyond the cultural highlights, there are developments that keep people in Bad Tölz busy. DB InfraGO AG is carrying out construction work that has an impact on various train connections. This was announced by the city administration, which also invited citizens to take part in a construction site inspection for the Tölzer northern bypass, organized by the CSU local association and the state building authority.
This mix of political pulsation, cultural life and preparations for a possible winter is good for the city. Citizens are challenged, and those responsible for local politics and club life also have to face current challenges. It will certainly be exciting to see how the political trends and quality of life in the region will develop in the coming weeks.
In conclusion, it should be noted that a strong sense of community and the commitment of many citizens to democracy and diversity can pave fruitful paths in Bad Tölz. Although the AfD spreads its view, the lively participation in protests and cultural events shows that citizens are actively standing up for their beliefs.
