Like the local news portal in Franconia reports, a 57-year-old man from the Bamberg district recently discovered two strange transfers in his account. These transfers, which amounted to 90 euros each, were transferred by direct debit to an account in Malta. Thanks to the support of his bank, the affected person was able to successfully get the money back.
But that's not all: When looking through the account transactions, the man discovered that his 81-year-old father's account was also affected. There were even five debits of 90 euros each on his account. Unfortunately, some of these payments could not be reversed due to the speed of the transactions. The fraudsters did it cleverly and used subjects such as “Megatipp Emergency Call Services TR” and the email address “anfrage@sorge-karte.com” to disguise the debits.
Beware of scammers
As the police in the region warned, it remains unclear how the perpetrators obtained the father and son's sensitive account information. To protect other citizens from similar experiences, the police offer the following important tips:
