Burglars in Gefrees fled by alarm system!
An attempted break-in that took place in the community of Gefrees on Friday afternoon ended with the perpetrators quickly retreating. According to a report by Wiesentbote triggered the alarm system of a single-family home “Am Cremitzberg” and warned the residents in the area. The resident immediately informed the police about the emergency call. Several patrol cars from the surrounding police stations were quickly on site to secure and search the property.
During the search, the police found a broken window in the basement area of the house. Fortunately, there were no people in the building as the suspected burglars fled when the alarm was triggered. The Bayreuth criminal police have now taken over the further investigation and are asking for information from the public. In particular, information on suspicious people or vehicles between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. on the day in question is requested. Information can be given to the criminal police on 0921/506-0.
Current burglary statistics in Germany
On average, there are 213 break-ins every day, with an average loss per incident of around 3,500 euros. The total damage caused by burglaries in 2023 amounts to a shocking 340 million euros. What is particularly noticeable is that North Rhine-Westphalia is affected by this negative trend, where the number of burglaries has increased by 15 percent.
Prevention is required
Police stress that mechanical and electronic security measures are crucial to preventing break-ins. Alarm systems and reliable locking systems are recommended, among other things. Despite the worrying figures, fortunately 47 percent of burglary attempts are unsuccessful.
It remains to be hoped that the affected population in Gefrees will implement such security measures in their own homes in order to be better prepared in the future. The incident once again illustrates how important preventive measures are in order to make your own living situation safe.
Another unpleasant burglary occurred just a few days ago on Walpenreuther Strasse Bayreuther Tagblatt reported. Unknown perpetrators broke into a residential building through the terrace and searched several rooms. Although nothing was stolen, the burglars caused property damage of around 2,000 euros. The police are also investigating here and are asking for information about suspicious people in the Walpenreuther Straße area.
