Midsummer has arrived in Bavaria and the weather is causing some moody capers. On Saturday, June 14, 2025, citizens can look forward to temperatures between 30 and 35 degrees, although Munich will not be left behind with a maximum of 30 degrees, like that tz reported. The German Weather Service (DWD) is also issuing a warning of thunderstorms in western Upper Bavaria. Individual thunderstorms with heavy rain and gusts of up to 80 km/h can cause excitement here in the afternoon and evening.

The temperatures will drop slightly to around 30 degrees on Sunday and partly sunny weather can be expected over the course of the day, although there is also the possibility of showers and thunderstorms. The focus is particularly on the afternoon storms, which could really shake up the beautiful summer time. There are signs of increased weather activity, especially in southern Bavaria DWD underlined. Heavy rain of up to 20 liters per square meter is expected here, accompanied by hail and violent squalls.

The coming days: first heat, then thunderstorms

A heat wave is rolling towards Bavaria. Temperatures between 27 and 32 degrees were already measured on Friday, June 13th, and Saturday will also push the values up further. As early as Thursday, June 12, temperatures climbed above 30 degrees in several regions, resulting in what was described as “trouble-free summer weather,” according to the Mercury.

The effects of heat are felt everywhere, and cities are already preparing for possible heatwaves and drought. Measures such as drinking fountains and the expansion of green spaces are on the agenda. But the joy of the hot days could soon be dampened, because with the withdrawal of the high pressure area on Sunday, a cold front is also on the way, which could soon make midsummer and the tropical nights a thing of the past.
