A significant traffic accident between two buses shook Berchtesgaden on June 19, 2025 pnp.de reported. Shortly after 12:30 p.m. there was a collision on Maximilianstrasse in which a total of ten people, including two bus drivers, were slightly injured.
The accident occurred when a 49-year-old bus driver pulled into a lay-by where another bus was already parked. The driver of the following bus, accusing him of driving error, was unable to brake in time and crashed into the stationary vehicle. Fortunately, the driver of the bus that hit the road was alone in the vehicle and was trapped in the driver's cab. He had to be freed by the volunteer fire department and taken to hospital for treatment.
Injured people and rescue efforts
There were 15 people in the second bus, including the 57-year-old driver, who also suffered minor injuries. Eight passengers from this bus had to be taken to nearby hospitals. The rescue measures on site were extensive: around 25 firefighters and a large Red Cross contingent with two emergency doctors, four ambulances and an ambulance were deployed to treat the injured as quickly as possible.
The total damage from the incident is estimated at around 150,000 euros. Both buses then had to be towed away, while the roadway had to be completely closed during the rescue work, which also led to significant traffic delays.
