Promotional talents from Cham: U19 national player and further changes!

The ASV Cham talent factory continues to be a successful pioneer for future football stars. The latest example of this is U19 national player Elias Decker, who recently attracted attention with FC Ingolstadt in the 3rd league. With 20 appearances last season, the young player has already impressively proven that he is on the right path. However, he is currently busy with the U19 national team at the European Championships, but has to miss any further appearances due to an injury. ASV Cham has not only made a name for itself through Decker, but also through other talents who will now strengthen professional clubs. Maxi Schwarz (15), Finn Schreckinger (13) and Dominic Weber (12) are moving to high-class youth training centers.

As a top performer in the U17 national league, Maxi Schwarz will play for SSV Jahn Regensburg in the future, where he will be hunting for goals in the U17 youth league (Bundesliga). Starting at SV Zinzenzell, he moved to Cham in 2020 and is now taking the step into professional sport. The same applies to Dominic Weber, who is also moving to SSV Jahn and will play in the U14 development league. The 12-year-old made his footballing beginnings at FC Chamerau before coming to Cham two years ago.

On to the new challenge!

Finn Schreckinger, a goalkeeper who has only been between the posts for a year and a half, is also taking on an exciting challenge. He is moving to FC Ingolstadt in the U15 regional league and will go to boarding school there. This is a big step for the talented keeper, who previously played as an outfield player. Gerhard Peintinger, the head of the youth performance center (NLZ) at ASV Cham, highlights the excellent work of the coaches at FC Chamerau who have shaped these talents and speaks proudly about the further career of his protégés.

But what makes ASV Cham a success factor in youth development? In addition to individual talent, the continuous support of young players plays an important role. The U12 and U13 of ASV Cham are currently scheduled to compete against well-known clubs. On February 28th, the BOL team will meet the U12s of FC Bayern Munich in a friendly match, and on March 29th the U13s will play against TSV 1860 Munich. Such encounters are not just test matches, but also an experience that offers players valuable experience.

The path to the professional sector

The transition from youth to professional level is not always easy, as a study by the German Football Association (DFB) shows. The study finds that Germany lags behind other football nations such as England and France when it comes to training and developing talent. Although the German system provides for strong training in the youth teams, there is often a lack of transparent transitions into the professional field. Statistics show that only 39% of the professionals in the Bundesliga come from their own youth ranks, which shows there is room for improvement in an international comparison.

The tendency in Germany to bring talent directly into the Bundesliga can hinder their development. By creating second representations, such as at SC Freiburg in the 3rd league, an attempt is made to give young players the playing time that is essential for their development. In contrast, in Spain, for example, second teams are allowed to compete in the second division, which benefits the promotion of talent. In Germany, however, some clubs seem to have lost touch in terms of training.

However, ASV Cham remains optimistic and continues to work on promoting its young talents. Initiatives such as the U13 team's planned trip to Spain, which, in addition to football, is intended to strengthen camaraderie, show the club's commitment to the development of young athletes.
