Holiday campaign Ready – technology – go!” for tech-loving girls!

The summer holidays are just around the corner and the Coburg University of Applied Sciences has come up with something very special: the holiday campaign “On your marks – technology – go!” will take place from August 4th to 6th, 2025. instead of just motivating and inspiring students between the ages of 10 and 14. The program is part of the “MUT – Girls and Technology” project, which has been running since 2003 and aims to give girls lively experiences in the areas of technology and science. This is reported by the Wiesentbote.

What does the program look like? Participants have the opportunity to gain practical experience in numerous workshops. There will be interesting activities such as microscopy of the smallest worlds, soldering an electronic puzzle game, exciting learning about artificial intelligence and immersion in virtual worlds. Things are going really well here and the girls can live out their curiosity and broaden their horizons.

Diverse workshops for curious minds

The event at Coburg University, which will take place on the first three days in August, is not only part of the “MUT” program, but also an important step towards strengthening the career orientation of girls and young women in the MINT sector. Here, the participants learn, among other things, programming, carry out laboratory analyzes and build their own electric drum. The program also includes exciting topics such as codes and encryption, DNA extraction and building a hut in the forest. Renewable energies are also covered – perfect for young environmentalists!

64 participants have already registered for the holiday campaign and they are being accompanied by an experienced tutor. The project promotes young female MINT talent and focuses on addressing gender-atypical topics at an early stage. Registration information and further details are available on the project website: MUT Upper Franconia.

Empowering girls and women in STEM

The commitment to the future generation of women in STEM courses goes beyond the holiday campaign. Another important project that Coburg University supports is this STEM Girls Project. It is aimed at high school, technical or secondary school students with a particular interest in MINT. The aim is to create bridges and break down gender-specific hurdles in order to attract more young women to MINT courses.

Part of this project is the early promotion of talent through special modules such as talent scouting and MINT coaching, which can be transferred to other universities nationwide. Here, emphasis is placed on close personal support for the girls, an offer that can not only help increase enthusiasm for MINT topics, but also strengthen self-confidence in their own abilities.

Overall, it shows that Coburg University, with its diverse offerings, does everything it can to inspire young women for technology and natural sciences and to prepare them for future professional challenges. This is not only important for the participants themselves, but also for society as a whole, which can benefit enormously from diverse and equal participation in technical professions.
