Three arrests after an incident on company premises in Deggendorf!
Late on Monday evening, December 22, 2025, a shocking incident occurred in downtown Deggendorf when a 36-year-old man was discovered with injuries. Residents reported a shot and found the victim at Färbergraben. Initial police investigations revealed that a firearm may have been involved. The injured man, who comes from Deggendorf, was immediately taken to hospital, where it was fortunately found that he had only suffered minor injuries. However, the circumstances of the incident remain unclear, including whether the perpetrator and victim knew each other. Police mentioned that there may be a connection between the two, which doesn't make the investigation any easier. Based on this information, the police launched a large-scale operation, which also involved the use of a helicopter and special forces. However, the police gave the all-clear regarding a danger to the population, while the search quickly led to initial successes. Two men aged 26 and 27 were temporarily arrested.
The following night, another incident occurred in the region. At the private premises of a company in Offenberg, the police were alerted by an employee of a security company. Arrests were made here too. A total of three people were arrested, including a 19-year-old woman and two men aged 19 and 26. The search was taken over by the Deggendorf police station, and the investigations ran parallel to those that were carried out after the shooting in the city center. After the police measures were completed, all those arrested were released, but the investigation is still ongoing, as the Lower Bavaria police announced in a statement. The Deggendorf public prosecutor's office continues to support the criminal police in solving the incidents, both of which raise questions that leave citizens concerned.
Current crime situation in Bavaria
While the police in Deggendorf are struggling with current incidents, the latest events are shining a spotlight on the general development of crime in Germany. According to the Police Crime Statistics (PKS) from the Federal Criminal Police Office, crimes fell by 1.7% to around 5.84 million in 2024, particularly due to the partial legalization of cannabis. However, certain crimes remain a challenge that affect the population's sense of security. In 2024, there was an increase in thefts, property crimes and brutality crimes, while crimes against life, such as murder and manslaughter, only accounted for 0.1% of the registered cases. The highest crime figures were particularly in the populous federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. In city states like Berlin, Bremen or Hamburg, the likelihood of becoming a victim of a crime is significantly higher. The clearance rate was 58% in 2024, which represents a slight decrease compared to the previous year.
The incidents in Deggendorf show once again that the development of crime must be seen as complementary to numbers and statistics. Even if the overall number of crimes is falling, the perception of insecurity among the population is not always reflected in these figures. The recent events are sure to be a topic of conversation in the coming weeks among residents facing the next threshold of potential crime.
